Multi-Use Robotic Gripper (Fiddler Crab Inspired)
- Project Title & Role:
Bio-Inspired Robotic Gripper — Team Lead - Problem Statement:
Robotic grippers typically trade off between delicate manipulation and strong grip force, limiting versatility. - My Solution:
- Designed a Kirigami-based dual claw structure inspired by fiddler crabs.
- One claw optimized for precision, the other for power.
- Integrated DAQ sensors for grip force/motion tracking.
- Fabricated with laser cutting (kirigami) + 3D printing.
- Key Deliverables/Outcomes:
- Prototype demonstrated successful handling of both fragile and rigid objects.
- Showcased material-driven compliance and bio-mimicry in robotics.
- Strengthened skills in hybrid prototyping and control integration.
- Visuals:
- CAD of kirigami gripper.
- Photos of laser-cut fabrication.
- Test results with delicate and rigid objects.
